Submit Disability Applications

All agents must be contracted with the appropriate carrier.
If not appointed with carrier (preferably, contracting forms would be sent in prior to the application being submitted), include appointment paperwork with the disability application if the state you are writing in is not a pre-appointment state.
Standard Life will not process agent contracting forms until an application is received (unless the state is a pre-appointment state).
Speak with someone in DI Marketing to ensure that the client is eligible to apply for DI.
Explain the underwriting process to the applicant. Be sure the client is expecting a phone interview, exam and/or labs if applicable.
Submit an original completed application, with all required forms attached.
Do not use white-out as most carriers will not accept an application with white-out.
Most carriers will reject applications dated more than thirty days prior to receipt.
Attach a premium check and conditional receipt if applicable (some carriers will not accept checks if the premium is over a specified amount.)
Order the medical requirements from the appropriate facility the same day the application is taken. ORG would be happy to order the requirements for you once the application is received.
Provide the completed ORG cover letter with all new applications. Note if exam was ordered, from which facility or if you’d like ORG to order.
